Our Sustainable Efforts

As a family that is passionate about the earth, our environment & reducing pollution; we have created our business around following some very important sustainable practices.

FLW are advocates for the Slow Fashion Movement.

What is Slow Fashion? Well first let’s learn about what it’s opposite Fast Fashion is about.

Fast Fashion -inexpensive clothing produced rapidly by mass-market retailers in response to the latest trends. Fast Fashion creates tons & tons each year of textile waste. Clothing is cheaply made, does not last long, and is harmful to the environment. Fast Fashion also exploits its workers, the clothing is not ethically made, workers are under paid, work long hours and are mistreated. Most of these workers are women. Textile waste is the second largest cause of pollution world wide. Let’s make a difference!

Slow Fashion-

Slow fashion, is a concept describing the opposite to fast fashion and part of the "slow movement", which advocates for manufacturing in respect to people, environment and animals.

Slow Fashion is based on the following 3 pillars;

1. Long Lasting Timeless pieces - items that are made well, will last a long time and are not part of a fashion trend.

2. Ethically Made- items that are made by local workers for fair wage and work environment.

3. Eco-Conscious- items are made with the environment in mind. Reducing textile waste is the number 1 initiatives. Items are also made with sustainable fabrics. Upcycled fabrics or dead stock fabrics.
